Product Description

The Sierra Horse Halter is a revolutionary way to communicate with your horse. When engaged, the halter puts pressure on the bridge of the horses nose and the crest of the neck. At the same time, the pressure is completely relieved at the poll behind the ears. Teach your horse to lead respectfully, stand quietly on a single tie or cross tie, and accelerate training for head carriage and head and neck control. The Sierra Horse Halter can be used like any other halter and for the same purposes, but it gives you more. A small person can have much more power over a 1000 pound horse because of more control over where that horse puts his nose. Horses that pull back when tied or when they feel pressure on the poll from regular halters, are given a new feel to react to, and that reaction is usually very favorable. Horses that pull their owners around when leading will stop and walk respectfully along side. Even those horses that yank you around for a bite of grass will stop. It is not because they are hurt in any way. The halter simply limits the movement as far as where the horse can put the nose. It is an amazing product that will change the way you look at halters. No knots to put pressure on sensitive areas. Two points of contact instead of the traditional poll area. Vertical head carriage comes naturally when using the halter. Pushy stallions are much more controllable with this halter. When a horse pulls back and puts pressure on themselves the halter pulls the nose back towards the chest. This in no way hurts the horse and it does not limit air supply. It is more like a wrestlers block. The Sierra Horse Halter is not just another piece of rope, it is a tool!

Check out our new lead rope. The perfect compliment to the Sierra Horse Halter. Sold seperately.

With the halter you may get a free DVD of more than 2 hours viewing of Alberto using the Sierra Horse Halters on problem horses for the first time. These are not staged, but real time videos with horses he has never touched or seen before. Please select the No Thank you option if you do not want it.

Fjords and other Draft Breeds need a Custom made halter because of the thick neck and larger head. Custom halters cost $5 more. email or call me if necessary!!   208-610-6779  You will need to measure your horses head and neck.  Here is a measurement chart.

Tips:

1.  If you worry about the nose band of the halter cutting into the nose, put a sheep skin cover on it. The object is not to hurt your horse, it is to block the horses movement.

2.  If you are correcting a problem such as pulling, use the SHH consistently for an extended time. Horses are so smart that they will quickly determine if you are using the SHH or a regular halter. You must use it long enough to completely break the habit. I use the SHH "all" the time on these horses because there is no reason to go back to a regular halter. It works for everything.

3. Remember; do not leave your horse alone during training, and keep the neck pressure rope pulled back on the horses crest while training. The neck pressure rope being engaged on the crest is the secret to using the SHH successfully.

  1. Best halter ever 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st Jun 2017

Had a horse that is older and decided to break his rope one daywhile at the hitching post.... that's all it took for a habit to form quickly. After just a few times I choose to order the Sierra Horse halter and that was the best purchase. This behavior stopped as quickly as it started with this tool. I was amazed at the results and am a very happy customer and would recommend this halter as one of the best training tools it there today. It's worth the money!

My mare had a terrible problem with pulling back and rearing. After just 2 sessions with the halter she isn't doing either and is just standing quietly. I really am amazed. Thank you so much!!! Also thank you for working so well with me on getting the right size.

  3. really good halter, and Gail Springer at PFL was wonderful 5 Star Review

I bought the Arab size halter (small) for my Arab. I used it for about a week, and the filly was learning quickly with it. I realized however, that it was just a little too small for her. After contacting Gail at PFL, I was encouraged to return it for a larger size. This was a few months after I got the small halter. She was very willing to exchange it for the medium size, which fits my Arab perfectly. She is back in training now, and doing well. Hurray for the SHH and for Gail at PFL. Thanks so much!

  4. Superior Halter for Trailering issues 5 Star Review

Posted by on 16th Feb 2017

I noticed this Sierra Halter on Facebook, I went on Sierra Halter's website and watch the video on trailer loading. what I watched on there video was exactly what my horse did. So I ordered this right away. I receive the product very promptly, that weekend I worked with my horse a few times like them demonstrated and with in a few attempts of pulling back, rearing my Chester went in the trailer. We practiced in/out several times and he no longer had the issues I dreaded. this product is amazing and would highly recommend getting this halter. thank you

  5. Works exactly as described 5 Star Review

Posted by on 4th Jul 2016

I purchased this halter for my mare who learned to pull back. She behaves just as badly as many of the horses shown in the videos, pulling back violently, rearing and she has become a real danger to me and herself. I cannot tie her to anything and it is so frustrating and limiting. The halter worked exactly as described. She learned much faster and with less drama than the horses in the videos. It was fast, effective, and above all safer than other strategies I was considering. And OMG she actually will stand tied now. I feel like I have my horse back and can finally start moving forward with her again. This was exactly the right tool to fix this problem, and it cost a fraction of what I would spend sending her to a professional trainer.

This halter cuts thru all the b.s. other halters don't. Horses immediately get the point and decide your idea is better than thiers. I have been looking for a product like this for years , very impressed. Mischelle

  7. Stopped pulling back, lifts feet, shows respect 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Dec 2015

I have 2 green horses, one pulled back violently, breaking halters and ropes when he felt pressure on the poll. After pulling back in this halter about 10 times he figured out it's better to stand quietly. He stood for over 20 minutes tied close to the tree while I worked with the other horse. He hasn't ever stood quietly, possibly due to a traumatic event earlier in his life. This is a miracle for us.

I love this halter because it's humane. It teaches the horse through his own language. You don't have to hit him with a stick (as with some training methods) or use any violence to teach him that you're the leader. It simply limits his movement and shows him you are in control of that, which sends the clear message to him that you're Alpha. And with no violence, he learns to trust you as a gentle leader. It's awesome.

Also, the other horse, as well as this one, would not lift feet or stand quietly for farrier. After sensitizing them to the halter they both stand quietly like lambs while I trim their hooves. This has helped me tremendously to overcome my fear of being kicked.

There is also a very noticeable reduction in their pushiness. They're being much more respectful and paying more attention to me.

I'm so thankful for this halter. I know my horses are going to improve more and more the more I use it in training. I've tried several other training methods and none have shown instant results as this. Thank you Alberto!!

  8. Best halter ever 5 Star Review

  9. This is the REAL thing! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd May 2015

I have a 12 year old QH that I got about a year and a half ago. She is kind of nervous and spooky. She rides out pretty good but she panicked when tied to the point of breaking halters and ropes and hitching posts. It was dangerous.

She was afraid to get washed and plastic bags sent her into a panic. She loaded into my trailer but it was always a hassle. I worked hard on her all last summer and she improved a lot but she was still unpredictable and spooky.

I saw the SHH online and I wanted to give my horse one last chance before she had to go. I figured the halter was probably just another gimmick but I was wrong!

I've used it three days and I've already seen more progress than I made all last summer. The first day I tied her hard and she pulled back several times. Then she stood still but was nervous. The second day I worked with a plastic bag. She was scared and pulled back once and then I could actually touch her with the bag.

I think the secret is the halter makes the horse think about pulling and reacting before they do it. It let's them consider the situation before they panic and blow up.

If you have a problem horse this thing really works.

  10. fantastic!! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 8th Oct 2014

This halter is amazing, honestly. I used this on a 3 year old welsh section d cob as he kept pulling back when tied, when leading and on the lunge, as soon as I put the halter on and tied him up he tried to pull back a couple of times then stopped and hasn't tried to pull back since.

He has not pulled back when he is on the lead and he listens to me at all times.

I've also used this today on a two year old section c colt who is really highly strung and does not stand still, he is also bad with his feet and wont let you lift them, After 15 minutes of using the halter he would stand still and let me lift all four feet!!
The girls on the yard could not believe it.

you really have to use this halter to believe how good it is.

It was on by chance I seen this halter being used on YouTube as I was searching problem horses and horses that pull back, they are nowhere in the uk.
